The Movement in Blue – Mirrored Design was born from a bespoke request. A client, captivated by Tim Van Steenbergen’s original Movement in Blue design, wished to see it transformed into a runner format. To meet this need, the Ashtari Carpets design team proposed an elegant adaptation: mirroring the darker section of the composition. This subtle yet impactful change brings enhanced balance, symmetry, and a more geometric flow—perfectly suited for elongated spaces.

The result is a harmonious evolution of the original artwork, retaining its deep emotional resonance while adapting to new proportions. In this mirrored edition, the rich interplay of wool and silk captures light in shifting ways, highlighting the deep azure blues, coral greens, and aubergine purples that rest on a serene sea of indigo. The mirrored balance adds a quiet rhythm, making it equally compelling in standard rug sizes.

About the Artist – Tim Van Steenbergen
Tim Van Steenbergen graduated Magna cum Laude from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts (fashion, textiles, and theatre costume) before refining his skills under Olivier Theyskens. Since launching his label in Paris in 2001, he has become internationally renowned for his refined pureness, mastery of drapery, and meticulous attention to craftsmanship. Beyond fashion, Tim designs for theatre, opera, and interior projects, always blending tradition with a modern artistic vision.
