A Custom Organic Rug Designed for a Private Residence in Schoten
In a beautiful residential neighborhood in Schoten, we had the pleasure of creating a truly bespoke rug—an organic, made-to-measure piece designed entirely in dialogue with the space itself.
Every custom rug begins with understanding the architecture. For this project, we carried out an on-site study, carefully observing the proportions, light, circulation, and atmosphere of the room. Rather than imposing a shape, we allowed the rug to emerge from the space. The result is a soft, organic contour that flows naturally within the interior—neither rigid nor predictable, but perfectly balanced.
Organic rugs bring a unique sense of calm and fluidity to a home. Their irregular outlines soften architectural lines and create a subtle tension between structure and freedom. In this dining area, the rug gently defines the space without enclosing it—allowing furniture, light, and movement to coexist harmoniously.
For the color palette, we developed a refined gradient that transitions from deep blue-green tones—reminiscent of ocean depths—into light, almost ethereal shades of soft white and beige. This nuanced color flow enhances the natural light in the room and adds depth without overwhelming the interior.
The contour is finished with a delicate, soft orange border—an understated yet powerful detail. This subtle accent introduces warmth and a sense of crafted luxury, elevating the rug from a functional object to a true design statement.
