Exceptional Project for Belgian Designer – Sustainable Persian Rug for International Retail Concept
For a respected Belgian designer, we recently completed a remarkable rug project as part of an international retail concept where sustainability, quality, and performance were of utmost importance. The space required a rug that could withstand heavy foot traffic while also being easy to maintain and resistant to staining – making material choice and craftsmanship absolutely crucial.
We selected a design from our own Ashtari Carpets collection: a stunning, hand-knotted Persian rug made with the finest thick, oily wool from Iranian sheep – a wool known for its strength, density, and natural luster.
This rug is a perfect example of a custom-made project, crafted to meet both aesthetic and functional demands. With its impressive size of 7.85 x 2.70 meters, it stands as a testament to the complexity and ambition of large-scale artisanal weaving.
Creating a rug of this magnitude is always a challenge – from sourcing the right wool to ensuring structural integrity and flawless finishing. But the result is simply stunning.
The color palette flows in a beautiful natural gradient: starting from deep, earthy greys (directly derived from the sheep’s natural wool) and transitioning into soft grey-brown tones, with the central sections showcasing natural white and beige wool. No dyes were used – only the organic color variations of the sheep’s fleece, resulting in a uniquely pure and authentic aesthetic.
This masterpiece took eight months to complete, with four skilled artisans working full-time in perfect coordination – a true reflection of traditional craftsmanship at its highest level. The result is a durable, stain-resistant, and visually striking rug, ideally suited for a high-traffic, design-forward retail environment.
Smaller variations of this design are available from stock, in rich reds and natural tones – ideal for residential or smaller-scale interior projects.
A piece of heritage and innovation – crafted for impact, beauty, and endurance.
